Description
Myrtus communis or commonly known as common Myrtle (which is much more than common) is native to the Mediterranean region and the Middle East. Also know as sweet myrtle It has sweet smelling white flowers with yellow-tipped stamens and finely textured evergreen foliage. Leaves are simple, dark green, oval to lance shaped and aromatic if bruised. Often used for topiary, it can be trimmed into almost any form. They love full sun or part shade and can grow 4-6′ with a spread of 3-5′ but can be trimmed and be kept at any size. Tolerates drought. Growing Zones 8-10 but can be brought indoors and grown thru the winter in colder climates.
