This guy grows to about 1-2′ with a spread of 6-12″.
The leaves are bright green with serrated edges with flowers that are purple to purple-red flowering mid summer.Grows in average to well drained soil and is hardy in zones 5-9.The herb was used to treat wounds and also was traditionally used as a cure for gout and rheumatism. Germander is a small evergreen plant that can be used in Elizabethan-style knot gardens. Similar to the boxwood , germander works well in knot gardens because of its petite size and ability to be pruned into small hedges. You need one…maybe 2 or 3…dozen!
